Mushroom Patrol: The Midas Machine (missing music file available for download)

Quote:Mushroom Patrol - The Midas Machine (or in short just Midas Machine) is the official MFGG fangame project. The goal is to create a quite large game using only 100% custom graphics, music and programming.

Play as Mario, Luigi, Wario or Waluigi in a quest to stop two villains from transforming the whole Mushroom Kingdom into solid gold!

Visit the official booth to find out more!

Then come back here and discuss the demo.

The trailer looks sharp, where is this project in development at this point?

We are currently making steady progress. In terms of graphics, things are going pretty good. I'd say I've finished off easily 80-85% of the graphics. As for the programming, that is Guinea's department so I'll let him answer when he's on, but I can say that he's also keeping up a steady pace.

We're getting along, indeed. I would say that you can expect the finished game next year's NCFC, but my estimates were never that good and I said the same last year, but I have a better feeling this time around.

Has the community split between MFGG and Minus World affected progress or contributions at all?

Not really. It was pretty much just Guinea and myself before and after.

The split or only having 2 people working on it? The split didn't really change much, but having two people, in my opinion works well. Yeah, you have more work to do, but it's easier to keep track of what has to be done/has been done.

RE: Mushroom Patrol: The Midas Machine
Yeah, I also feel a lot more comfortable with it now that we officially "downgraded" from Community Project to Showcase Project and it's mostly just Chaoxys and me doing whatever we feel is right, without taking care of others being able to match the spriting style, ruining code etc. And at this point, I think the graphics, music and programming are all so advanced that we would never have gone that far if it was a community project.

However, one thing has to be said: Had this not started out as a community project, with everyone contributing the original sprites and also a few contributions to the coding, it wouldn't have become what it is today either, and this is why in the credits everyone who made an old sprite is still listed, even though those sprites are no longer in the game.

I guess it is the mix of both at the right times in the development cycle that allowed Midas Machine to grow to the game it is now and will be when it is finished. Thank you MFGG and those who are now at Minus World for your help!

RE: Mushroom Patrol: The Midas Machine
Attention: I noticed that the sewer levels use a music file (underground1.ogg) that I forgot to put into the download. So it will play the default grassland theme instead.
Please go to the Download section of our booth, and either re-download the complete archive (18MB) or just the missing underground1.ogg and place it into the music folder.

Sorry for the inconvenience!

I can make the cut-scenes shippable too. I record them to a DVD, but you have to pay the shipping.
