Unofficial Mini-Game Competition 2011
Hello folks, I'm Nightwheel. And thanks to Kesha, I'm your unofficial host for your unofficial Mini-Game Competition this year.

And we have a theme!

This year's (unofficial) theme is........

Adventures in Space!

The rules......
  • Since this is NCFC. Every game must be based off a Nintendo franchise
  • No mini-games based around predominantly space based Nintendo franchises (Sorry Metroid fans)
  • Mario is allowed, but no Super Mario Galaxy mini games please.
  • Game must be made during NCFC, not prior
  • Reusing engines is fine, since you have a short time to make a game
  • Games must not be TOO long. Remember, this is a Mini-Game Competition
  • Entries must be submitted here
  • You have to 3pm EST on Friday the 28th to get your entry done and submitted.
  • File limit is 100 MB. (Like a mini-game would need that large of a cap, but who knows.)
  • Must have fun doing this

We have no prize for the first, second, and third place winners as of right now. But that could change though before this ends.

Thanks to Shroomguy for the theme idea.

So that is pretty much it for now. All I can say now is....

START MAKING YOUR ENTRIES!

This sounds awesome! Just a few quesitons, though.

1. How long do we have to make them, and
2. Is there a file size limit?

Hmm good questions.....

You have to 3pm EST on Friday the 28th to get your entry done.

As for file limit, how about 100 MB. (Like a mini-game would need that large of a cap.)

Updating the rules now.....

Another question:

soo.... does space music/music from space games count? Because I wanted to do a platformer with Bowser's Star Reactor music.

Well if you can make the game space themed and include that song. Then yes it would be fine.

However, Just don't make a sprite for sprite SMB clone with that song added to it. And claim that to be your space themed game.

Okay, um, does the moon count? Because I can't think of any thing else that would qualify for "space" in a platform game.

Just curious: Is there a chance that we can do an extension? I don't think I'll be able to finish in time and doesn't look like anyone else is participating. :(

I made an entry. It's not much I made it in like 3 hours, but I enter every year, so here we go.
Round And Round

The goal is to fire a rocket around the moon, and see how far it goes.
Controls are left/right/up/down and space launches the rocket.
Press R if you want to restart without waiting for the rocket to land.

Tip: Use the stumps on the sides of the moon to give the rocket more airtime.
